The All Stars have been named. The list is in the Post Season Section
As we head in to week 16 of the FABL Showtime 2023-24 campaign, there is a lot resting on today’s games. While Matthews seems to have solidified the top seed currently owning the tiebreaker over rival McCain, other teams have key battles to gain advantages and momentum going into the playoffs.
The most interesting match up of the day pits 13-2 McCain against 12-3 Davidson in a fight for the 2nd seed. This 2 PM game should be a barn burner. I expect Davidson to rebound from their disappointing Wednesday evening loss with Gmeiner and Allen leading the way. The black team wins in a close one. NOT A GOOD WAY TO START MY DAY, WITH THE MATTHEWS LOSS, MCCAIN IS NOW THE TOP SEED. MAYBE ITS TIME TO GIVE SOME RESPECT (0-1)
Bufano (5-10) vs Damico (1-14): The gold team needs and gets momentum today headed into the playoffs. They will win out and the red team just gets in their way. Pick Bufano. OK, BLIND SQUIREL? GROUNDHOG? THIS MAKES NO SENSE BUT NOW I STAND AT (0-2)
Coehlo (4-11) vs Frey (8-7): Coehlo must win to avoid a Friday evening “play in” game. They have won two in a row but the streak ends here. Frey is just too tough and too deep…and they have big plans for this tournament. Frey pulls away at the end and wins by 10. FREY ALMOST MADE ME 0-3. THEY ARE UNPREDICTABLE…LIKE JEKYL AND HYDE. (1-2)
Mathis (4-11) vs Haines (9-6): Haines has ended their mid season slump and have won three in a row. Here comes number 4. Pick Haines in a walk. CLOSER THAN I THOUGHT…THANK GOD FOR THIS WIN (2-2)
DYE (3-12) vs Miller (5-10): Miller must win to avoid the possibility of falling into the bottom 4. Tuesday’s impressive win over Wolfe may have right this ship. Also, a side note…long range bomber Hayden Speace needs 7 three point shots to break the league record of 61 held by former player and current Century High teacher Trey Howes. BTW, it’s no accident his first name is Trey. Miller should win this easily. MILLER WINS AS EXPECTED AND SPEACE NOW STANDS AT 60 BOMBS MADE. HISTORY HAPPENS WEDNESDAY AT 6:30. TOO BAD I CAN’T BE THERE….DATE NIGHT FOR THE LAST 38+ YEARS. (3-2)
Wolfe (10-5) vs Liska (8-7): Wolfe has a long history of winning games on the first Saturday of February right before dinner. Never play Wolfe when he is hungry. At the same time, Liska gets “hangry” when it gets close to supper time. This is going to be a good one that should satisfy the crowds cravings for a good game…(that was a load of cr**) Pick Wolfe in a close one. IS 17 POINTS A CLOSE WIN? MAYBE IN RUMMY 500. A WIN IS A WIN AS WOLFE NOW LOOKS VERY DANGEROUS. (4-2)
Haynes (10-5) vs Hearn (11-4): Some say that Hearn is vulnerable because their record is inflated by two wins that were forfeits. You could say that they are seated on the number 4 seed on a “throne of lies”. Well this is a good way to find out. Haynes is coming off of a tough loss Thursday to Hillman, a team that never wins, in a game where they were short handed. If everyone show up, this dinner time game could be the game of the day. I like Haynes by a bucket to move into the #4 position. MAYBE I WAS TOO QUICK TO JUDGE. HEARN IS A CONTENDER!!! (4-3)
Lane (2-13) vs Matthews (13-2): The real risk taker in me wants to pick the upset. Lane is due a win and with the return of senior Cole McAuliffe along with fellow senior Jackson Ricks singing the strings at St Stephen’s, they just need the rest of the boys to show up ready to play!!! Of course, you probably think I am crazy….and you are right. Pick Matthews in a closer game than anyone thought (I really wanted to pick the upset). OH COME ON!!!! I SHOULD HAVE PICKED THIS ONE!!!! MATTHEWS DROPS OUT OF THE TOP SEED GIVING UP 70 POINTS. I AM SPEECHLESS. (4-4)
Kimmett (10-5) vs Hillman (7-8): HILLMAN WILL LOSE!!! Actually this is an interesting game. Veteran coaches and friends Hillman and Kimmett are squaring off for the 15th time in their coaching career. Hillman holds a 9-6 advantage. If Hillman can get his boys to give 100% for 36 minutes, Kimmett can be in trouble. Kimmett’s boys can score in bunches and expect them to jump out to an early lead…the question is can they play with a lead. If they can tonight, they could vault into the playoffs as one of the teams to beat. that said, I repeat myself as always….HILLMAN WILL LOSE!!! THANK GOD FOR THE ONLY SURE THING THIS SEASON. HILLMAN DID LOSE!!! (5-4)
