Fouls / Penalties

The technical foul rules and associated penalties shall be enforced league-wide.

For the purposes of this rule addendum, the following kinds of technical fouls, and those of similar action shall qualify…

  • bad language
  • slamming the ball
  • mocking an official
  • repeated questioning of calls
  • taunting/hazing an opposing player (ie. staring down a player, running backward with hand in air after a 3pt shot, pounding chest, etc…)

Each Individual Offense:

  • The Player is assessed a direct technical foul, but can remain an eligible player.
  • Two free throws are administered and the ball inbounded at the mid-court line.
  • Two infractions in the same game by the same player results in a DQ.
  • Any Flagrant Technical Foul will result in immediate ejection of the offending player
  • Head coach receives and indirect technical and must remain seated for the duration of the game.

If the Technical Foul did not result in an ejection…

On the 3rd individual offense, and each one thereafter:

  • All game time rules regarding ‘Each Offense’ still apply
  • Offending player may complete the current game as NFHS rules apply
  • Offending player is suspended from the next game.

If the Technical Foul did result in an ejection…

On the 1st repeat ejection:

  • All game time rules regarding ‘Each Offense’ still apply
  • Offending player is suspended from the next game.

On the 2nd repeat ejection:

  • All game time rules regarding ‘Each Offense’ still apply.
  • Offending player is suspended from the next 2 games.

On any future ejection:

  • The offending player is suspended for the remainder of the calendar season.

Spectators

  • Per Carroll County Rec & Parks, any spectator ejected from a gym or school facility at the discretion of the referee and/or board official will be barred from attending any County sponsored games for one year.
